The Mayo Brothers, two impeccable doctors, changed the course of medical history in 1889 with the opening of St Mary's Hospital. Although they encountered religious opposition, had little support from fellow doctors and had to face the uncertainty of the Sisters of Franiscan, they still managed to break these barriers, and create a legacy known as the Mayo Clinic: a highly respected medical institution.
